On April 29, 2024, Franz Seubert, our CEO, recently had an insightful interview with Antje Erhard in the Tagesschau (ARD’s Update Wirtschaft). There, he revealed how our AI-based solution, AIPERIA, combats food waste in the food industry and helps manufacturers and retailers optimize their planning.
In Germany, 1800 kg of food is thrown away every minute, even though it is still edible, according to ARD. According to the WWF, this appalling waste amounts to 18 million tons per year – almost half of which could be avoided!
How do we at AIPERIA change that? Our software uses over 150 factors to calculate the optimum order quantity of products within seconds. It takes everything into account, from public holidays to the weather. Our technology is already showing impressive results, especially in the bakery sector. Customers report savings of up to a third and a significant reduction in food waste. One customer even managed to save over 400 tons of CO2 per year – the equivalent of planting 32,000 trees!
Large supermarket chains are already showing interest in the planning solution. AIPERIA is already in talks to launch in the UK market, which is known for its wide range of convenience products.
Our vision is to plan the entire supply chain – from production to the supermarket shelf – end-to-end, thus avoiding markdowns and unnecessary stock. Our aim is to start at the very beginning of the process and thus ensure that resources are not used unnecessarily and are significantly reduced!
